Marilyn Winkleby, MPH, Ph.D
Faculty Director of the Office of Community Health, Stanford University

Marilyn Winkleby is the Faculty Director of the Office of Community Health at Stanford University and was a Professor of Medicine at Stanford for 30 years. She received her MPH and Ph.D. from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health and at Stanford led a NIH-funded research group that shed light on the ways in which social factors impact health. Dr. Winkleby is widely recognized for founding and directing the Stanford Medical Youth Science Program that has brought over 650 low-income high school students together to participate in an innovative summer biomedical mentoring program. Her book, Healing Journeys: Teaching Medicine, Nurturing Hope, and a documentary film, Opportunity of a Lifetime, demonstrate the transformations that happen when youth are afforded the chance to excel. In 2011, the program received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government for mentoring in these fields. Dr. Winkleby is the recipient of numerous awards including the Athena Award for Outstanding Woman Leader of the Year, City of Palo Alto.

She has been active on many non-profit boards, including Loaves and Fishes Family Kitchen, Emergency Housing Consortium, and Hope’s Corner. Most recently she founded Access to Achievement Education Foundation whose mission is to enhance academic success among low-income and under-represented minority students through school and educational partnerships.
William S. McKiernan

Bill McKiernan is CEO of WSM Capital, LLC a private equity firm he founded to invest in payment and other technology companies. Prior to founding WSM Capital, Bill founded CyberSource Corporation in 1994. In July 2010, Visa, Inc. acquired CyberSource in a transaction valued at $2 billion. Mr. McKiernan holds a BS from Boston College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is a Trustee of Boston College and Bellarmine College Prep. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Ireland Fund, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and the Harvard Business School California Research Center Advisory Board.

Retired Development Director, NW Furniture Bank

As the Development Director for NW Furniture Bank in Tacoma Washington Mary was responsible for Fundraising, Communication, Community Relations and Volunteers Engagement. Previously, she worked at Bridging, the largest furniture bank in the country which is located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of MN. In her 8 year tenure with Bridging she implemented a successful fundraising and development department. Prior to Bridging, Mary spent more than 25 years in for-profit companies in the functional areas of account management, sales, project management, human resources and operations with some 20 years spent in management capacities. Thomas D. Follet
Retired, Partner, Accenture Consulting

Tom Follett is a retired business executive who spends a great deal of time seeking ways to fight the Parkinson’s disease at The Parkinson's Institute and Clinical Center. He joined the Board of Directors at the Institute in 2005 and for the last 5 years has served as Board Chairman. Tom provides an active, hands on role helping with strategy, fund raising, problem solving, and as a public relations spokesman for the Institute. Tom also serves as a member of That Man May See (TMMS) Board of Directors helps raise funds for the Ophthalmology Department at UCSF. Over a 10-year time frame he has chaired the Strategic Planning Committee and has served on the Finance Committee, along with the Recruitment and Retention Committee. After losing his wife to Lou Gehrig’s disease, Tom became active with The ALS Association, with whom he served as President of the Bay Area Chapter for three years. Tom was a Partner with Andersen Consulting (now called Accenture) and retired in 2000 after a 25-year career. He started in Chicago but spent the majority of his career working with high tech clients in the Bay Area. He also lived in Germany for 5 years where he managed the Manufacturing Industry Practice.

Tom is a graduate of Notre Dame (BS Aero Engineering), University of Michigan (MS Aero Engineering) and Xavier University (MBA).
